New Covid Protocols
As we begin the new semester, we are currently seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases in our community. This has impacted our attendance drastically. The new guidelines issued by MDHHS are designed to help students return to school as fast as possible while keeping others safe. Recently we are seeing symptoms such as headache, runny nose, and sore throat that are indicating a student is COVID positive. Please see below to determine the best course of action for your child.
Positive Individual (Staff, Student, or Teacher)
Isolate @ home for 10 days from symptom onset or test date, OR
Isolate @ home for 5 days, and if symptom improving “mask to stay” days 6-10
Close Contact to Positive (regardless if masked, unmasked)
If vaccinated or had COVID-19 in the last 90 days, “mask to stay” days 1-10 and monitor symptoms
If unvaccinated:
Quarantine @ home 10 days since last exposure if unwilling to “mask to stay”, OR
Quarantine @ home for 5 days, and if symptom improving “mask to stay” days 6-10, OR
“Test to stay” days 1-5 with a mask AND “mask to stay” days 1-10
If an unvaccinated household member:
Isolate for 10 days or until able to separate from the positive household member, then “Test to stay” days 1-5 AND “mask to stay” for 10 days AFTER the last contact.
Definition Changes:
“Close Contact” has now been changed from 6 feet for 10 min. to 6 feet for 15 min. If both the positive individual and the exposed person are wearing masks, the exposed person is NOT considered a close contact.
“Mask to stay” means wearing a tightly fitting face mask over the mouth and nose and continuing to come or return to school/work.
“Test to stay” means receiving a negative rapid test (We can test at school)
