Dear Peck Elementary Pirates and and their Big People:
This afternoon it was just announced that on Monday, October 5th, ALL students, even Kindergarten-5th Grade will be required to wear a facial covering in the classroom. Currently only grades 6-12 must do this and it is going very well.
We do want to make sure that our community knows how wonderful ALL of our Pirates have been about wearing their masks on the bus, in the halls and restrooms, and some even choosing to wear them when they are not required at the elementary level. We have never had a more wonderful start to our school year and that will not change, no matter what the executive orders are. We are thrilled to be back in school and to have our kiddos back in our classrooms.
Rest assured, we have taken every measure and opportunity to ensure that our students get mask free time as it stands, and we will continue to do so. We will spend time next week helping our little Pirates transition to this new rule and readjusting our day and schedule. We have shortened the academic day by an hour already. We will certainly be adding more outdoor time to our day and making this as easy of a transition as possible. We will continue to be creative and resourceful to come up with solutions for the benefit of all.
We can do this. We are PIRATES.
